Schkuhria pinnata
It is an annual herb native to South America. The whole plant is used. The leaves are used as a regulator of the digestive tract, as a detoxifier, diuretic and anti-inflammatory or as an antidiabetic and anti-allergic and is taken on an empty stomach. . In Bolivia it is used as an infusion for kidney and bladder disorders. The cooked root is recommended in overweight conditions, while the dried and pulverized root is used as a healer of ulcers and sores. The leaves are also used to treat acute and chronic liver diseases, liver failure, eczema, urticaria, sebaceous acne, myalgia, allergies. Its use is common in the treatment of sores as well as as an antiseptic. Finally, in Argentina the root is used as a blood detoxifier and as an adjuvant in diets. The various chemical compounds include: linear hydrocarbons, various sterols including β-sitosterol and thalassosterol, flavonoids, terpenes and sulfuric compounds.
