Jamieson Potassium<\/strong><\/span>is the main intracellular cation and makes up 5% of the mineral content of the whole body. Potassium is an essential mineral that works with sodium to regulate the body’s water balance. 95% of the potassium share is intracellular, while the remaining 5% is found in the extracellular fluid and is involved in the transmission of nerve impulses, in the control of skeletal and cardiac muscle contraction, in the regulation of blood pressure. Potassium deficiency is characterized by muscle weakness, fatigue, mental confusion, slow reflexes, irritability, asthenia, heart, nerve conduction and muscle contraction disorders. Food sources rich in potassium, with a high potassium \/ sodium ratio, are represented by raw foods (fruit and vegetables); in particular, potassium<\/a>is contained in potatoes, bananas, citrus fruits, apricots, in chicken, lamb and pork. Refined foods and subjected to preservation treatments typical of the Western diet are particularly low in potassium.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n
