Omega-3 fatty acids are polyunsaturated fatty acids of vegetable or animal origin.
To define an element containing omega-3 it must:
- come from wild fish and not farmed;
- be cleaned of heavy metals;
- be cold pressed.
The two main Omega 3 fatty acids are EPA and DHA. Since our body is unable to synthesize them, we must necessarily obtain them from food. However, the typical Western diet, although very high in fat, is always lower in Omega 3. The lack of this element can have a very negative impact on well-being and health.
